Critical power systems for industry worldwide

Sustainability

Avatec combines practical carbon reduction, responsible operations, people development and accountable decision-making across the power-system lifecycle.

ESG in practical terms

Build reliable equipment while reducing avoidable impact

Sustainability at Avatec is organised around three connected responsibilities: reducing environmental impact, protecting and developing people, and maintaining governance that supports quality, ethics and traceable decisions. The approach extends from procurement and production to product efficiency, service life and end-of-life recovery.

Environmental

Reducing the carbon footprint of production

Avatec’s production improvement pathway starts by measuring electricity and material use, identifying the processes that create the largest impact and tracking reductions over time. Practical measures are integrated into routine manufacturing rather than treated as separate activities.

  • Continuous research and development in UPS and battery chargers, adopting the latest technologies to improve energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint across the product lifecycle.
  • LED lighting, occupancy controls, efficient air-conditioning and preventive maintenance.
  • Energy metering by major process, production-area shutdown routines and load scheduling.
  • Efficient test planning, regenerative test equipment where feasible and avoidance of unnecessary burn-in energy.
  • Accurate cutting, wiring and assembly to reduce scrap and rework.
  • Segregation of metal, cable, electronic, packaging and hazardous waste for approved recovery.
  • Reusable packing, right-sized cartons and consolidated deliveries.
  • Supplier evaluation that considers quality, distance, durability and environmental practice.

Product lifecycle

Efficiency, maintainability and longer service life

Correct sizing prevents avoidable conversion losses and excessive material use. High-efficiency power conversion, temperature management and suitable operating modes reduce lifetime energy consumption. Serviceable assemblies, accessible components, monitoring and preventive maintenance help extend useful life and avoid premature replacement.

Batteries are selected for the duty, environment and required autonomy. Condition monitoring and planned replacement improve reliability while reducing unnecessary waste. At end of life, lead-acid and nickel-cadmium batteries are directed to controlled collection and recycling routes.

Social and governance

People, integrity and accountable delivery

Social responsibility

Safe work, technical competence and respect are fundamental to reliable delivery. Avatec supports role-based training, supervision, stop-work authority, fair treatment, knowledge transfer and continual improvement from employee and customer feedback.

Employees are actively engaged in sustainability initiatives through practical awareness, improvement suggestions, resource-saving actions, waste segregation and participation in workplace projects. This helps turn environmental goals into measurable everyday behaviour across engineering, production and service teams.

Governance

Defined responsibilities, approved suppliers, controlled drawings, traceable inspection, non-conformance management and documented change control help decisions remain transparent. Ethical business conduct, protection of confidential information, conflict-of-interest awareness and reliable record keeping support customer trust and long-term accountability.
